Most broken combos in ARAM Mayhem take time to come online. Jayce with Slow and Steady? He’s deleting people at level 3.
How Slow and Steady Works on Jayce
Slow and Steady grants bonus AD based on the cast time of your abilities. Jayce’s Shock Blast (Q) through his Acceleration Gate (E) has a significant wind-up, and the augment sees this as “slow” casting, granting absurd bonus damage.
The Numbers
At level 3 with just a Long Sword:
- Normal Q+E combo: ~250 damage
- With Slow and Steady: 600-700 damage
That’s right. A single ability combo does more than half a squishy’s HP at level 3. With just a Long Sword.
Why It’s So Broken
- Comes online immediately: No scaling required
- Low counterplay: It’s a fast skillshot from fog of war
- Low cooldown: You can do it every 8 seconds
- Stacks with other augments: Add Jeweled Gauntlet and you one-shot

The Jeweled Gauntlet Combo
When you add Jeweled Gauntlet to Slow and Steady Jayce, your Q can crit. Add Skilled Sniper and It’s Killing Time on top of that, and you can delete champions from a screen away with just R-E-Q-Q.
Even tanks aren’t safe when your poke hits this hard.
How to Play It
Early Game (Levels 1-5)
- Stay in cannon form
- Look for Q+E poke through minions
- One Q+E will chunk 50-70% of squishies
- Follow up with hammer form to finish
Mid Game
- Position in fog of war
- Q+E → watch someone disappear
- Repeat every 8 seconds
- Your team is 5v4 before fights even start
Build Path
- Muramana - Scales well, adds even more damage to Q
- Eclipse - Lethality + shield for safety
- Collector - Execute threshold helps finish poke victims
- Serylda’s Grudge - Slow on Q makes them easier to hit again
Why This Combo Is So Good
Slow and Steady Jayce makes the game really hard for the enemy team. They can’t walk up to farm or fight without losing half their HP to a single Q.
When you add Jeweled Gauntlet to the mix, the damage gets absurd. Players joke that this combo should be banned because of how unfair it feels.
Counterplay
- Stay behind minions: His Q has to travel through them
- Engage on him: Jayce is squishy in melee range
- Healing/Shielding supports: To mitigate his poke
- Warmog’s: Out-sustain his poke (takes a while)
But honestly, if he’s hitting his Qs, you’re going to have a bad time.
