ARAM Mayhem Headliners: when to dance, reroll or contest cards
Four practical Headliner decisions for Disco, HEARTSTEEL, Bees and K/DA, with Riot's current rules and clearly attributed advice from creator 檸檬仔.
A Headliner can change whether you should dance, take a stickered augment or walk forward for a pickup. The useful question is what that reward costs your team right now.
Riot’s patch 26.21 notes confirm the broad rules below. The tactical discussion draws on 【檸檬仔】’s October 21 video, which opens with PBE footage. We attribute the creator’s advice separately from Riot’s rules. Specific PBE values and pickup behavior may differ on live servers.
Disco: who benefits from the shared gold right now?
Riot confirms that dancing under the disco ball earns gold for everyone. The other team benefits too. Official rules.
At 3:18, 檸檬仔 recommends delaying the payout with a poke-heavy team. His argument is that shared income can help enemies reach the items they need to fight back. He also suggests attacking opponents while they dance. This is his tactical assessment, rather than a measured advantage for a champion class.
Our practical recommendation is to help trigger the reward when your team can use the purchase opportunity and can dance safely. If your team is already keeping opponents at range, consider whether accelerating their purchases helps them more. Avoid standing on the dance floor while enemies have a clear shot at you. A shared reward is a reason to check the timing, not an obligation to dance immediately.
HEARTSTEEL: does the sticker improve a choice you can use?
Riot confirms that augments can receive unique modifiers. In the video, these appear as stickers on augment choices. Official rules, creator explanation at 3:38.
At 5:29, 檸檬仔 weighs sticker value against augment quality. Some bonuses influence his choice more than others. His PBE rankings and numerical valuations do not establish a live tier list.
Our recommendation is to compare the whole offer. Read the augment first, then ask whether the modifier helps your champion’s actual damage pattern or survival needs. A useful modifier can settle a close choice. Avoid taking an augment you cannot use just because its sticker looks attractive. Check the current selection screen before spending a reroll; this guide does not assume the video’s sticker persistence rules still apply.
Bees: can you reach honey and still get out?
Riot tells players to collect honey pots and avoid the bees crossing the map. Official rules.
At 7:56, 檸檬仔 describes fighting, disengaging and recovering through honey. He argues that controlling more space makes honey easier to reach. At 8:14, he warns that this health sustain does not solve mana needs. Those details are observations from his PBE analysis, beyond Riot’s brief patch-note description.
Our recommendation is to plan the retreat before taking the trade. Use accessible honey when you can leave the fight and recover without crossing enemy threat. Avoid trading away most of your health for honey behind the enemy frontline. Check mana separately before committing to another fight. Recovering health does not, by itself, mean your champion has the resources to keep casting.
K/DA: is the next card worth walking forward?
Riot confirms that collecting four K/DA cards earns an extra augment. Official rules.
At 10:16, 檸檬仔 discusses the danger of contesting forward cards. He values the ability to survive incoming damage and move back out. His description of spawn positions and pickup priority comes from PBE footage; do not rely on it as a current rule.
Our recommendation is to collect a reachable card when allies can cover you and you have a route back. Before contesting one farther forward, check enemy engage abilities and your escape tools. Avoid walking into an unprotected fight because a card would complete your collection. The extra augment is valuable, but the card on screen does not guarantee you can take it safely.
A quick check before committing
- Disco gives enemies gold too. Does triggering it now help your team’s next purchase?
- HEARTSTEEL modifies an augment. Can you use both parts of the offer?
- Bees reward access to honey. Can you reach it after the trade, and do you still have mana?
- K/DA rewards collecting cards. Who covers you while you pick up the next one?
These are decision checks, not a ranking of bands or champion roles. Use the current in-game description for exact effects and numbers.
For separate champion-specific tactics, see our creator guides to Yasuo’s attack weaving and Malphite’s shield burst. Those guides cover champion and augment interactions. They do not establish which Headliner is strongest for either champion.
